Colorado‘s Hickenlooper ends pursuit of Democratic presidential nomination

Former Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado said on Thursday he‘s ending his campaign for president after his candidacy failed to gain traction. Hickenlooper was widely viewed as one of the party‘s more moderate candidates after what was seen as a successful run as Colorado‘s governor. Other Democrats have urged him to run for a Republican-held Senate seat in Colorado in 2020 to give the party a shot at regaining control of the Senate. Hickenlooper said in a statement that he intends to give the idea "some serious thought."
